There once was a girl who was considered a delinquent of her high school class. She always showed up to class 15 minutes late. Finally her teacher said, "That's it, girl. I'm giving you detention for a week." "FINE! GAH!" the girl said, and stormed out of class.
Before detention was to start, the girl decided to have a cigarette under the bleachers.
A sweet and friendly kitten walked up to her and said, "Excuse me, but can I bum a cigarette from you?"
The girl said, "No."
So the kitten jumped on her face and flailed at her with his razor sharp claws. "Gimme a cigarette! Gimme a cigarette! Gimme a fucking cigarette, Goddammit!" until finally the girl said, "Fine, here you go, gah!" and handed over a smoke for the kitten.
The two stood there and smoked quietly for quite a while.
The girl sighed and said, "I'm so sick of my teacher. She gave me a week's detention because I've been late to class every day this year. I can't believe it."
The kitten said, "So wait...you showed up late every day this year...and now you 'can't believe' she gave you detention?
"Sounds like you need to get your shit together," the kitten told her.
After a couple of puffs, the girl said, "You're right."
The two became friends.
Eventually the girl did get her shit together.
The kitten got cancer.
